Welcome to One Brotha's Two Cents: The Official Therapy Blog of Jay Tekulvē Flower de Jackson-Vann, LMFT

Hey, Y'all! I'm Tekulvē Flower de Jackson-Vann. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with licenses to practice in Utah, Georgia, Nevada, Michigan, Colorado, Florida, and Arizona (listed in order of length of time I've been licensed in that state). My clinical practice and experience spans nearly 20 years, seven states, and a variety of clinical settings. I didn't become a therapist because I think I have it all figured out. I became a therapist because I believe in the goodness of people and that the experiences I have had can be valuable in helping others face and overcome life's challenges.

Currently, I practice telehealth only through Two Brothas Counseling and in person through One Haven. In both practices, I seek to address the issues impacting the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, as I am a member of both. Being Black and Queer are two aspects of my identity that are important to me and present in my clinical work. In addition, I am a person of faith, a husband, a father, a son, a brother, an uncle, and a friend. Those are also important aspects of my identity that are sometimes present in my clinical work.

At my core, I am a Narrative therapist, so starting a blog makes sense. I'm no stranger to blog writing, but I haven't ventured into a strictly clinical blog before. I'm a Virgo, so I never shy away from sharing my thoughts, but it dawned on me recently that some of the clinical conversations that I have in my head should probably be shared with others. I am looking forward to sharing this journey with you!

Let's heal together!
